Microsoft Leap Page Redesign

In this speculative design project, I evaluated and improved the Microsoft Leap program's webpage to enhance usability and visual hierarchy. Designed to attract non-traditional tech talent, the current page had potential but needed a more cohesive and user-friendly experience. My final design solution focused on clarity, engagement, and better information flow for prospective applicants.

Role: Designer
Tools used: Figma, Photoshop

Assessment of Current Design

  • The current Microsoft Leap homepage lacks a clear visual hierarchy, making it difficult for users to quickly find key information.

  • The event listings and the call-to-action buttons appear cluttered and are not visually prominent, which may reduce the effectiveness of driving users to engage with the content.

  • Additionally, the overall structure of the page feels disjointed, with various sections competing for attention rather than guiding the user smoothly through the information.

  • The color contrast and text spacing are also areas that could use refinement, as they don’t immediately draw the user’s eye to important actions like learning more or signing up for events.

Design Solution

The redesigned Microsoft Leap homepage addresses these issues by creating a more streamlined and intuitive layout. I implemented a stronger visual hierarchy, emphasizing the primary calls-to-action, such as "Learn More" and "Sign Up," through bolder typography and more strategic button placement. The event sections were simplified, providing users with clearer pathways to explore upcoming opportunities. The use of white space and a more cohesive color scheme brings clarity and focus to the page, making the user experience more pleasant and goal-oriented. Ultimately, this redesign improves the accessibility and engagement of the Leap program, aligning it with modern web design standards and user expectations
